Are you, or have you been a United Utilities customer? If so, you could be due compensation

United Utilities may have to pay compensation to millions of household customers in the Northwest of England. A legal claim alleges the company underreported its pollution incidents. As a result, United Utilities was allowed to charge customers more for its supposedly good environmental performance.

Lawyers claim if the true extent of United Utilities’ pollution had been divulged, the company would not have been allowed to increase household bills and customers would have paid less.

Anglian Water, Northumbrian Water, Severn Trent, Thames Water, and Yorkshire Water are also involved in this scandal. Millions of UK bill payers could get payouts if the claims against the water companies succeed. The combined sum being sought is hundreds of millions of pounds. Find out more about this claim.

How to get compensation from United Utilities

If you paid for wastewater services provided by United Utilities between 1 April 2020 and 8 December 2023, you may be due compensation.

If you are affected by this case, you will automatically be included in the claim if it goes ahead (unless you opt-out), so you do not have to register. However, sign up with us and we’ll provide updates on this and other cases.

The water company is facing more problems after it admitted to providing water that was unfit for human consumption. Despite this, United Utilities recently increased the amount of payouts to investors by nearly 10%. The company reported higher operating profits thanks to a rise in customer bills.
