A staggering 184 million login details have been exposed in a major data breach – one of the biggest we’ve seen.
The stolen data was found on an unsecured server by cybersecurity researcher Jeremiah Fowler. It includes usernames and passwords for popular platforms like:
- Microsoft
- Netflix
- PayPal
- Apple
- Snapchat
- Discord
- Roblox
…and even government and health accounts across 29 countries – including the UK.
But it’s not just your login details at stake. Hackers could use your compromised account to launch phishing attacks on your friends, family or colleagues, tricking them into handing over sensitive info. One breach can snowball.
Cyber experts are calling it a “cybercriminal’s dream” and urging everyone to act fast.
What you should do now
- Change your passwords, especially if you use any of the affected platforms
- Turn on Two-Factor Authentication
- Keep a close eye on your accounts for any suspicious activity
- Invest in an antivirus software if you haven’t already.
At Join the Claim, we’re keeping a close eye on this case – and others like it – to make sure UK consumers stay informed and empowered. If a claim opens in the UK and you’re affected, we’ll help you check if you’re eligible and connect you with a trusted law firm.
