Press Release
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Consumer claims platform Join the Claim has reported a flurry of early registrations from Citroën owners keen to stay informed about possible legal action over the recent airbag recall, as group litigation against manufacturer Stellantis is actively being explored.
While no formal claim has yet been launched in the UK, law firms are assessing potential group action on behalf of affected drivers, many of whom have been left unable to use their Citroën C3 or DS3 vehicles due to the “stop-drive” safety warning issued by Stellantis.
“We’re seeing strong early engagement from car owners,” said Jordan Clayton, Founder of Join the Claim. “Drivers have had their vehicles effectively taken off the road with no immediate solution, and many are now asking whether compensation could be on the table.”
The recall affects C3 and DS3 models manufactured between 2009 and 2019, all fitted with Takata airbags, a component linked to serious safety concerns and multiple deaths worldwide. UK drivers have reported long delays in securing repairs, confusion around insurance validity, and minimal support from dealerships.
“People are already losing money,” Clayton added. “We’re hearing from drivers who’ve had to arrange alternative transport, pay for taxis or hire cars, and even cover the cost of getting their undriveable cars transported to a dealership. In some cases, they’ve been told that driving the vehicle would invalidate their insurance, so they’re stuck. It’s causing real financial strain, and they deserve answers, support, and compensation.”
Legal action is already advancing in other parts of Europe. In Italy, a civil court has admitted a class action against Stellantis over the same faulty airbags, while similar proceedings are under way in France.
Join the Claim is encouraging anyone affected to register their interest now so they can stay up to date as the situation, and any legal action, develops here in the UK.
