Growing concern among consumers as full scale of April cyber-attack is confirmed.
More than 1,000 people in England, Wales have now joined the Co-op lawsuit, data breach claim through jointheclaim.com, after it was confirmed that all 6.5 million of the retailer’s members were affected by a major data breach.
The breach, which exposed names, addresses and other contact details, has sparked alarm from members, many of whom are now exploring legal options via Join the Claim, the UK’s consumer-focused group litigation platform.
With the Co-op’s CEO acknowledging the emotional and operational toll of the hack in her first public comments, public awareness of the issue is rising, and so is demand for accountability.
Jordan Clayton, founder of Join the Claim, said:
“Following the Co-op breach, it’s no surprise people want to understand their rights and claim compensation. While no financial details were taken, the exposure of personal contact information can have serious consequences. Phishing, scams, and anxiety around identity fraud are all very real risks for those affected.
