Join the Claim steps up support for UK drivers affected by faulty Citroën airbags

Press Release
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Join the Claim is helping UK drivers prepare for a potential group action following a major recall of dangerous Citroën airbags – with hundreds already signing up.

After a fatal incident in France and legal action in Europe, Stellantis – which owns Citroën – has issued a rare “stop-drive” notice covering more than 120,000 vehicles in the UK. The recall affects certain Citroën C3 and DS3 models made between 2009 and 2019, all of which were fitted with Takata airbags known to degrade over time and potentially explode with deadly force.

While no formal legal proceedings have yet been launched in the UK, Join the Claim is liaising with leading consumer law firms assessing whether affected drivers could be entitled to compensation. Those who have had their cars grounded, faced repair delays, or incurred transport costs are now being encouraged to check their eligibility and register for updates.

Commenting on the potential Citroën airbag claim, Jordan Clayton, founder at Join the Claim said:

“This is a very serious safety issue, and for many drivers, it’s also become a serious disruption to daily life. We’ve already seen strong early interest from hundreds of affected owners, and we expect that to grow as awareness increases.”

Join the Claim has also launched a comprehensive online guide to help drivers understand the recall, what a stop-drive notice means, and how consumer rights apply. The guide also highlights emerging legal claims in Italy and France, where over a thousand drivers have already taken legal steps.

Clayton added:

“Join the Claim connects consumers with regulated legal experts to make group claims more accessible to the public. If you’ve been told not to drive your car, you deserve clear information, practical support, and a fair route to justice. We’re here to make sure no one falls through the cracks.”
